SAT subject test

I just got my score back
Korean 800 Math II 800 Chemistry 750

is it worth my time that I should study chemistry and retake it to get 800 or is this pretty good score for MIT? Would getting 50 more points make difference in admission?

I’ve heard that they don’t really fuss too much with anything 750-800, not sure if that is true. I’m a little worried for my son, got the Math 2 at 800, Chem at 780, but also took Physics at the same sitting for a 730. Since MIT only requires two, I’m hoping they will ignore the Physics, but not sure.

A 750 for Chemistry is the 83rd percentile. And remember, the people who take this test to begin with are a very self-selected group; it’s not the same as getting that percentile on a test that nearly all college applicants take.

You’re fine. This will not keep you out. Find more productive things to do than retake the test. You could be spending that time doing chem experiments or reading chem papers instead, or any number of other things.

To crazy mom: 730 is the 74th percentile for Physics. I wouldn’t worry about this even if they do look at it.

Thanks, jessiehl. Hard to read their minds, hope you are right.

It honestly shouldn’t matter. I got the same thing as you did, 800 on Math 2 but I got a 740 on Chem and I applied EA. You did better than about 80% of the people who took the test and that is good.
