I scored a 35 in Grammar, 33 in Reading, but a 22 in Math, please help

I did one semester of college at a school that was not the right fit for me, and I ended up leaving the University after Christmas. I am looking to transfer to a better college, or do a double transfer if possible, because I ended up getting a lousy 3.4 GPA. However, my ACT composite is only a 30, I know I can do better, and I want to retake However, I had the highest ACT score in my entire school, besides a transfer student who enrolled shortly before I left, so I was amazed to get a 30. I was never taught any of the math for the ACT in the classroom, my district had a 20-30% mathematics proficiency rating during state testing. I went to a poor school, so we did not have any prep. I did practice tests online, and have been doing Khan Academy (Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry) ever since my Junior year, yet I still cannot do this math. I have taken Calculus I at University, made a B-, and still cannot comprehend the math section of the ACT. The Khan Academy SAT math practice flies right over my head, I always get 8/10 questions wrong. Please help me. I want to understand the concepts.

Math is the best section for me. I’m currently in high school and doing many competitions throughout middle school helped me (MathCounts). I’d say the biggest way to improve math is to generally memorize all the formulas and information. You’ll need to spend a lot of time going through algebra 1 and 2 and geometry because I’m pretty sure this is most of the math section.

Buy a test prep book as well. Barron’s is the way I usually go but there’s a better one that is specifically designed for the ACT. look up the ‘Ultimate Guide to the Math ACT’ It is very informative and is the number one choice for math

It sounds weird to say but I got a 35 on the ACT as a sophomore and I would like to give most of the credit to watching YouTube videos on sample questions and how to solve them. It helped me from a 29 my freshman year to a 35 my sophomore year.

@IvyDreams13 what videos? Might help my younger son as this is how he learns best.

We have the For the Love of ACT Math book. My DD did not get through it, but she did their Science book and raised her Science score 6 points, so I think it’s a good program.

@UVAmom23 I watch SupertutorTV and Best ACT Prep. Hope this helps.

I also watch The Organic Chemistry Tour. He also does lots of ACT prep.
