I sent in an 'extra' letter. Should I send one more?

Hey everyone!

I sent in an extra letter to my first-choice school telling them about a letter of recommendation I wrote for my guidance counselor for a statewide award (and how he just won it!).

Now, I just found out my gpa bumped me from salutatorian to valedictorian. Is it worth sending another letter? Or was one enough/too many?

I don't want to be seen as a stalker-applicant. :(

As I have told numerous other applicants who ask such a question. Will the fact that you are 1 instead of 2 benefit the community of arts, academics, or athletics of that school in anyway that you are Valedictorian rather than Salutatorian.

It will not harm you but at this point I would highly doubt it would help them or you. Most likely the school (especially if private) has already decided whether they want you or not.

You're probably right. Maybe I should just take a backseat and let the admissions process actually happen.

Thanks.... :P

No problem. Go ahead and send it if you want. That is just my thought.

i don't even understand why it was worth it to tell a school how you wrote a letter of recommendation for a counselor and he won a statewide award. It's not an award for you is it? Does writing good recs make you a better student?

I think writing about sal to val is important though.

I read somewhere that an adcom said, "the thicker the file, the thicker the student"

Yes, I think I posted that in one of my posts soon after speaking with a Princeton guy. That is exaggerated but true.

IMO it’s not worth it to send another letter.
Plus won’t your Mid-Year Report have documented this change anyway?

It’s always the same song: if you feel it’s vital to your application then send it.
