Eeek! My Yale interviewer JUST called me, I have an interview THIS FRIDAY. And now the nervousness begins...

bump......I STILL haven't gotten my eli paper.

Advice to next year's applicants: don't apply with the paper app! Applying with paper app=soooooo SLOOOOOOW. Hope eli comes before December 16!

My turn. Sent my app in by snail mail Oct. 26. Haven't been contacted. Should I call to make sure they got it??

I sent mine in the same date (and from the same location, apparently) and got my eli letter last Thursday and a call from an adcom the same day. That monday I was stressing that they hadn't received so I called, but they won't check to see if they got it yet, they just told me that they're still processing.

There's no alumni interviewer in my area, and I know that interviews are optional, but I can't help but feel as if something's missing from my application because of that. Are the interviews informational only?

I have my interview Saturday. I don't even want to think about it I'm so nervous.

good luck mijehar

rhs06, no the interviews are evaluative, which means they'll be factored into your admissions decision.

is that for both campus and alumni interviews?

yes, my on campus interview in August at Yale was evaluative. On the other hand, my on campus interview at Harvard was informative, and didn't count towards my admissions decision.

I submitted my app online on 10/26, and everything else got there within the next few days. It says my app has been downloaded, and I got an email confirming that it's been received and entered into the database, but I haven't yet gotten ANYTHING in the mail, or heard about an interview. :-

sarelieva, how soon after you submitted it did you get your email, I submitted it the same day and still haven't gotten anything.

I got the email on 10/31. I got a payment confirmation email right after I submitted the application.

the alumni interview is informative. i emailed the coordinator for alumni admissions, she told me to wait until the 22nd to call my committee

the alumni interview is evaluative. the on campus interview is informative. the alumni need to write evaluations about each applicant and then mail them to adcoms. byerly's and northstarmom's posts also state that they have several criteria for judging candidates.

actually theyre both evaluative according to my local rep.

so we were both wrong. ;)

oh oops, i meant to type evaluative the first time, haha. i knew that! i think that they rate us from 1-9 actually...

grrr. call me mr or mrs. yale alum, i'm waitin' for ya!
