The deadline is March 2nd and I just submitted my FAFSA. I submitted it at around 11:50PM Pacific Time. I guess they're using another time zone, because my FAFSA account shows "submitted 03/03/2011".

Is this going to be a problem? There was a delay because of paperwork we needed to get back. I'm currently a freshman with 0 EFC. I need all the aid I can get. Should I call the office tomorrow?

Let me start by saying I am a junior at SDSU and I receive financial aid.
While i cant tell you exactly how Berkley works, i can talk from my own experiences with financial aid.

I would say don’t worry about it if your application was received late. While there prob isnt much you can do about missing that “deadline,” you shouldnt worry about it anyway because about 90 percent of your financial aid is going to come from the pell grant, student loans, and work study. That “deadline” seems to only effect grants such as the Cal grants and the academic competitiveness grants.

While it would be helpful to get your fafsa in prior to the deadline, to receive those additional grants, you will be fine, and will receive plenty of aid if your efc is 000.

hope this helps. get that fafsa in early next year though! get some extra money!

An fyi though, the deadline is just the submission deadline. You can make corrections to it later and all will be fine (unless you’re editing it in like April or something). Last year, I guesstimated my parents’ income and submitted my FAFSA in February. I went back after they filed their tax return (after the deadline) and edited it. Everything was fine because I still submitted the FAFSA on time.
