I submitted on October 1 for early action to the college of engineering. Looking over my application last week, I realized l submitted the first draft of my common app essay. The final draft fixes 4 typos, takes out a word, and revises 2 paragraphs because they just aren’t necessary. l worked with my English teacher for hours and l can’t believe l was so careless to just throw that work all away.
Some other threads say you can call the college, but is that the best course of action for me??
Email your schools regional rep for Michigan. Look it up on the Michigan site. Great excuse to contact them. This will let them know you want to go to Michigan also. Whatever the advise… Make sure you thank them or send a thank you note. Also talk to your schools counselor as they might have a relationship already.
Thank you! l called them, and they said they can’t edit my common app but l could email them the final draft and they would end up looking at both. l’m hesitant to do this because then the person reading my application will know l messed up… on the upside, they at least have the perfect version of my essay.
What do you suggest l do?
Send in the corrected version since you know there are mistakes in the draft!
If they are allowing you to send in the corrected version do so. At least they will know you were mature enough to realize your mistakes. If you are going to then ask how this will affect your application… No one knows but don’t have any regrets.
Thanks! l just emailed them my final draft.
