Essay
I will write about a Table. How the table is important to me: In Africa my family and I were in a war and so we hide underneath the table from the bombs. Now, since I am in the USA for many years, don’t know exact number... but anyways, now my parents uses it to talk about bills and how will survive for next day.

So the essay will be a contrast of the use of a table in two different countries and two different situations.

yup, i think u were a good candidate all u needed was a good gpa...u still have a chance though

I think your SAT scores will help compensate for your GPA. Also, UCLA uses a holistic reading system, so they will take into consideration other attributes beyond GPA. I think your interesting story and background will help you, since UCLA prides itself on being diverse.
Good luck! : )

I am transferring from Penn state after the first semester

Transferring from Penn State University Park or a branch campus?

Branch: Mont Alto

This is by no means a slight on UCLA, which is a great school, but I am curious if there is a reason why you are not wanting to work at Mont Alto and then transfer up to University Park after two years?

I would chance you for UCLA, but I have heard that UCLA does a system where they do not focus completely on stats. It makes it hard to predict.

I don't like penn state it was my safety, so I can transfer into my first choice.

I really don't understand how do you get a 2400 on sat and have a 3.0.
It's nonsense.

You get that by not doing what your are supposed to do.

I looked at UCLA stats for GPA,

3.0 people get around a 4% admission out of the admitted people

there's a shot!

I think your very strong extracurriculars and unique background will be able to make up for your gpa, especially since you have a good test score. I'd say you've got a good shot.

wait... do u already know that you aren't getting into UCLA?

forever LSU...all i got to say is:

GEAUX TIGERS!!!

(assuming you are talking about louisiana state)

siukity-
he didn't get a 2400. he got a 2100 out of 2400

arklogic-
OP's not a he. she's a she.

Anyway, you have great background and extracurriculars and all that jazz. I hope UCLA looks past your GPA, good luck. And take chancing here with a grain of salt. As you can see, nobody really reads every word, they skim through it.

damn, gpa is a really important factor for transfers...but then again it seems like your overall profile is excellent, so holistically you have a great shot..

good luck!
