I want to go to Georgetown, Cornell, Columbia, Emory, NYU, UPENN (Legacy of 10 people in my family.), Northwestern, or Brown. As you can see the AP class screwed me over my first semester. I'm freaking out, do I have no chance to get in. It took me the last quarter of the school year to fully adjust to get all A's. Do I still have a chance to get into the schools I want to go to?
Remember the only C on their is from a stupid exam...... not from a quarter grade......
I'm confident now, I can probably get all A's through the rest of High School. I'm just scared the B's ruined my GPA. I take the AP Exam May 16th. I did Varsity Tennis. I'm in the Key Club, volunteering in Hospital this summer. REMEMBER I'M A FRESHMAN! IM IN ALL HONORS AND ONE AP CLASS!

freshman, come back in 2 years. don't worry about the C your freshman year. it won't kill you.

No, the C is just an exam, which is rounded to a B overall. Because of my quarter grades in that subject. Didn't you read what I wrote lol? :P

No one cares what your damn Geo Honors class test scores are. Colleges don't see individual tests. Shut up until you're a junior.

It's impossible to say without test scores anyway. It may turn out that even if you had all As, low test scores will make the grades irrelevaent.

I'm just asking if I'm doing poorly as a freshman to the schools I want to go to....

Unless you go to a school where getting one C on one exam will cause you to be ranked in the bottom 10% of your class for the rest of high school career I am sure it won't affect you. I am a junior and at my schools is pretty damn competitive and I got two C's on exams and I am still in the top 10% of my class.

And even if that C does affect you its all about how you rebound from it. Admissions officers know that kids are kids, they make mistakes and they are all humans not some emotionless robots.

don't blame your dad.

You're a frosh. Study for that AP you have to take in a few weeks and maybe you'll be lucky enough to earn your first few college credits if you do well. Sign up for classes you think you can handle next year, maybe go up to two AP's but don't stretch yourself too thin. Remember that colleges also look at how involved you get. Join a club that interests you or maybe a JV sport and work at it for the rest of high school. If you're going to stress out over the SATs and ACT maybe switch some classes around for your soph and junior years. If Chem is mandatory take in next year and take an easier science junior year like Bio. Just keep yourself more rounded and remember to enjoy high school a little bit.

My dad signed me up for the AP Class without me knowing, so it was a big surprise for me. So the first semester I was a bit disorganized with my amount of work which resulted in those B's. I'm in the Key Club, and Varsity Tennis.

MetalMeatwad...you really need to chill out (especially with that huge "B" that you put into your second post). You are a freshman and still have plenty of time.

But to be brutally honest, if you're struggling with freshman year, Key Club, and tennis, I don't think you're cut for the Ivies.

^^ true that.

Yeah, I agree with randombetch. If one club and one sport are overloading you, imagine what will happen if you take 3-5 APs your junior year. Honestly, you would die at the Ivies.

you are taking AP human geography... how hard can it be?

No when you transition from Middle School to High School an AP Class is to early. Right now I just got all A's and I'm now good with my schedule. It's not overloading me, I just said 1 semester it was, now I'm completely fine during second semester which resulted with me getting all A's. Gosh......... MY SCHEDULE IS NOT OVERLOADING ME!!!

yo chill out dawg. Just take it real easy. Study hard for those exams. Whats happened has happened.

You may not get into every single top school you apply to, but it doesn't seem like you're in any trouble. Just keep your GPA up and you'll be fine. Don't worry about a few hiccups along the way.

yo chizzle ya burnin shizzle. you're doing fine. freshman is way to early to determine your college possibilities. I know someone who had a B+ average in his sophmore & freshman year combined and got into an iv... Well he got straight A's in his junior year , great EC's, high SAT scores, etc etc

Well, it seems as though you are whining about your schedule. You continually reference Key Club and tennis, which are not that time consuming.
