Okay everyone, I am pretty sure my counselor will write me a terrible recommendation... or at least not very good. She's been the school's AP coordinator for the past year (all of my APs are online, and I have to get test printouts from her every week or so), and she yells at me almost everytime because she can always find something wrong with what I do. For example, I asked her two days in advance (and wrote it down) that I wanted to take a test by a certain date. Then, she got all mad at me because I came in an hour earlier than she expected. (note that it takes about 30-45 seconds to print off tests). Also, she has moodswings non-stop and she's confrontational with me very often. She also has no idea what she's doing because she's only been a counselor for a couple years and everyone from my school either goes to a community college or state college.... or a crap local school.

AHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She's making me 5000 times more stressed out about this!

Will she single handedly ruin my college future? and is there anything I can do to combat her possibly bad rec?

This situation is far from atypical within public schools. Not much you can do but do try and be as pleasant with her as you can because she might have a good day when she does you recomendation and even say something good about you.

If you are applying to a selective school it will not help your application that is for certain. Like you said, it makes her job easier if you just apply to local state university and be done with it. She could care less about you getting accepted to one of your other choices a school she may no nothing about and not take the time to learn.

Think of it this way the GC is uniformly discriminating (he, he) so
you will come out okay in the end since the other folks being advised
are probably being treated the same way!

Surprisingly the harsher GCs were the ones that cared the most about
everybody. Remembering a very small percentage are at the top with you
you might want to cut your GC some slack - for her toils with some of your
grademates who may be the reason for her stress.
