<p>you’ll definitely be one of the top applicants that apply. It all depends on competition, essays, recommendations, and such, but you’re most likely in.
And the 4.0 is UW? If it is, then that’s great, keep it up!</p>

<p>No, I didn’t apply to rice, but I kind of wish I had.
Yeah, the 4.0 is UW. I think the weighted is 4.8 or something.
After being rejected for Stanford (SCEA), waitlisted at WashU, and rejected from HPME, I just feel my chances for NU dropping. I really want to go to NU too, but I don’t know if I expressed that through my essays. Oh well, only a few more days left.</p>

<p>As far as Rice goes, I think there’s been claims of a spot of Tufts syndrome. Everyone who I thought should be shoo-ins were waitlisted.</p>

<p>Oh, and by the way, the ACT writing test:

  1. at many places, won’t affect you, and
  2. Is a very poor indicator of writing ability. I got a 9 on the writing with a 35 composite, and I am a very good writer. The subsection is mostly graded for “mechanical” writing, not well-developed or thoughtful work.</p>

<p>well remember. HPME has only about a 4-6% acceptance rate. And people give up harvard and princeton and yale for HPME… so it doesn’t mean much if you didnt get in.</p>

<p>I was lucky enough to get interviewed for HPME. Does anyone know when those decisions come? I’m eager to know, and the website doesn’t provide a response date.</p>

<p>While no guarantee, I’d say that you have pretty good chance (better than most) based purely on your stats.</p>
