I turned in my FAFSA and received aid, now I need to edit FAFSA...

Like the title says, if I turned in my FAFSA early with estimations and got an EFC, and then my college (University of Texas @ Austin) sent me financial aid based on that EFC and now I need to correct my FAFSA with the actual numbers, thus bringing my EFC lower than we estimated, will my financial aid given change or is it too late? Also, if I accept my aid now will I be able to get more money later or is it set in stone? Thank you for any clarifications, I am so confused.

I have been able to edit my FAFSA as late as August before the fall semester starts. And I’ve gotten the corrected amount so I would go ahead and change it and then notify your financial office of the school that there will be a change coming. If it processes with no problems you should get the changed amount.

thanks very much for your help!

If you were not selected for verification the first time you submitted the FAFSA, you may possibly be selected when you make changes. Just watch your financial aid messages (if your school communicates with you online) for requests for documentation … you may very well NOT be selected, but you should know it can happen & you will need to turn in any required documents as soon as you are asked for them by the school.
