Hey guys,so I'm from Taiwan,I'm planning to enter university in US,but since that SAT is too difficult for me,I'm planning to enter the university by TAP or TAG,I need some help, can you tell me the difference between TAG and TAP?is using Tap to enter a good university really much harder than tag?
Cause I'm planning to go to Santa Monica community college first,so I don't have to take the SAT,and I really wanna enter either ucla or uc Berkeley ,but unlike other UC,they don't have the TAG,only TAP,so I wanna get some info, thanks a lot (:!!

TAG is not offered by UCLA or UC Berkeley
TAP is only offered in LA and Berkeley, it is called Transfer Admission Priority and you must be a honor student in order to qualify for TAP. TAP, unlike TAG, does NOT guarantee acceptance.

Yeah I know,I just wanna know if u get the opportunity to qualify for the TAP,does it mean I’m almost getting the qualification to enter the university?or is it still difficult?

It’s still difficult. And actually, TAP for Berkeley doesn’t even give you priority… they just advise you on how to prepare your application and personal statement, etc.

TAP at Berkeley is completely different from TAP at UCLA. TAP at Berkeley is just an advising program. TAP at UCLA actually gives you priority consideration in admissions.

You want to TAG into the best schools that allow it (I haven’t been following the recent policy changes–the best TAG school used to be UCSD, but that might have changed) and do TAP for UCLA. I wouldn’t bother with trying to do TAP for Berkeley.

For the record, I was rejected from UCLA political science with a 3.35 GPA and TAP, but accepted to Berkeley as a spring admit.
^TAG at UCSD is ending in 2 years
