Right out of high school I went to a highly selective university in Texas.
My SAT' score was almost 1400. I was ranked at the top of my class. The first
two years I did great, then something went wrong. I studied abroad in
Asia for 6 months and stayed drunk most of the time, when I got back
I got really depressed although I didn't realize it was depression and I
started sleeping all the time and missing classes. I ended up on probation
and then the next year I just quit going and didn't drop so now my GPA
is below 2.0. I've been out of school, working at a dead end job for a
couple of years now. I'm doing much better now, not so depressed and
I'd like to finish my education and then marry my girl friend.
My problem is that I can't find a college that will take a
transfer student with below a 2.0. Academics have never been hard
for me and I know I'd be able to make good grades and get my decree
if anyone would let me in. What do I do now?

I want to help, but i don't know what advice to give you. The best thing i can tell you call the colleges explain your situation, try another route maybe community college. You obviously a good student, just keep trying. I will admit it will be very hard with that GPA.
