I know most, if not all of you people who chance here are trying to get into ivy league schools. That's why i have come upon this forum to see what you guys think. i am trying to get into Texas State University, and its a decent school. My grades are terrible btw in your guys opinion most likely. i have a 2.2 gpa and im a senior right now. i slacked my freshman year and basically just tried to get by, and i was immature back then. my sophomore year, i tried a little hard, but still sort of slacked, i was a big procrastinator. Junior year i tried, and made decent grades, and now my senior year, im trying my best and try to get real good grades. i am going to do community service this year and see if it will help. i am also planning on writing a essay and telling them why i have such bad grades, and im determined to get into there school. i also plan on hitting a 1700+ on the SAT, and Texas State acceptance rate is 76% if that makes a difference, anyways chance me, or give me advice or w.e, and do they even check my senior grades or what? i plan on sending my application around December.

If you get that 1700+ on your SAT, then you certainly have a chance. You’re in state, yeah?
Your freshman GPA is, yeah, a little low in general (Ivies aside), but TSU will still consider you, especially if you’ve improved since then.
They’ll get your first semester senior grades.

Good luck!

thanks man, i really appreciate your response.

Do as much as you can to bump up your SAT scores and work extra hard to get good first semester grades. If you do choose to write an essay about why you have such bad grades, try and explain in a more positive light (that is: how your grades have improved, how you are challenging yourself more academically now). Best of luck to you!

thanks, will do.
