I want to transfer into UCLA film school from a CC - What looks better on an application?

I only have about a year to finish my classes and make my application look as good as possible. I will have completed 5 honors classes by then for TAP and my GPA will (hopefully!) still be a 4.0 or close. So I have those going for me.

Should I spend my “free” time interning with a production company (CBS TV show) or should I try to make some short films and enter them into festivals? Obviously, the latter is more risky as there’s no guarantee they would get accepted, but I feel like that would look better on an application than an internship. I could be very wrong, though.

I might try to do both, but with the amount of classes I’m currently taking, it’s looking like I might have to stick with one.

Thanks!

To get into any film program (especially as a transfer) you’re going to have had to do A LOT

Their website said talent and portfolio are most important factors in selection. Internship won’t suffice. Remember CSULB, CSUN, SDSU as backups. Good luck!

quentinRJJA - That’s true. I’m trying to readjust my schedule to allow me to do both.

CopperlineX2 - Good points. Thank you!

@Ggjork Don’t forget to add LMU & Chapman if you have excellent grades & need financial aid
