I want to transfer to SDSU but I live in Los Angeles. Harder to get in?

Hello everyone. I'm currently a community college student at Pasadena City College (PCC).
I'm majoring in Liberal Studies (Elementary Education) with a minor in Spanish. Possibly psychology as a 2nd major.
As much as I want to attend this fantastic school, my hope of ever getting accepted here just keeps dwindling and dwindling. I hear it's incredibly hard to get accepted, ESPECIALLY if you don't live or reside in San Diego or certain San Diego counties. Has anyone from Los Angeles successfully transferred to SDSU? Any advice? Not only is SDSU already hard to get into, and very impacted, but the whole issue of location just adds another thing to worry about. What should I do? And what can I do if I apply and I don't get accepted? I have other options, of course, in the Los Angeles area but my mind is set to SDSU. Thank you for your time and thank you for answers :)

What’s your gpa? XD

My GPA so far for transfer is 3.8 I believe. I just got to keep it up lol.
It just scares me because I’ve heard horror stories of people with great GPA’s but because SDSU is so impacted, they get rejected due to location or something.

oh dude im on the same boat…mines a 3.7-3.8 depending on my last class XD but yeah…im from LA too…isn’t it crazy?! like it’s almost funny because we would probably get into ucla/berkeley yet get denied from sdsu. Sdsu isn’t at the same caliber as those schools either…that’s why it’s so bizarre…

One thing I’ve read is that it’s the most applied Cal State in the system. They have more applicants than spaces. And probably budget cuts as well. Theres all these weird priority things and it’s very impacted.
I guess if I can’t get in there I can just try a different Cal State lol.
And my mind is always changing. Now I’m not even sure if I want to Major in Liberal studies. I’m thinking about Biology too. It’s hard being indecisive in college :L

At orientation they said there were 21,000 TRANSFER applications for 3,000 transfer spots(1 in 7 chance). Overall there were 78,000 applications for about 8,000 spots(1 in 9-10 chance). A record for the CSU system.

It’s a phenomenal school and their average GPA continues to rise. Your stats, EC’s and sports matter “big time”. The sports teams are fantastic! Your major does matter. The STEM courses are impacted. You may want to stick with liberal arts if you’re doing Elementary Ed.

I’m in SD and my counselor told me not to even bother applying to transfer as a Liberal Studies major because it’s so incredibly impacted. The advice was to switch to a major with less applicants. Good luck!
