My dream has always been to go to the University of Florida, but that's now been shot. Do I have any hope at the rest of the schools I've applied to?

I have a 3.93 weighted GPA. I'm 7th in a class of forty from a small catholic school in Nj.

My SAT scores are CR 670/math 620/writing 590. I had a composite 26 ACT.(I know it's not very good)

I play 4 years of varsity baseball and soccer and am a captain of both. And another 3 years varsity basketball. I'm in national honors society, French club, environmental club, stage crew. I helped start a comedy sketch club. I'm student council Vice President. I work over 40hrs a week in the summer. I've attended the NYLSC and the NSLC. I work with special needs kids every fall. What went wrong with my application?

But more importantly after being denied do I have any hope left at getting into U of Delaware, u of Virginia, wake forest, Boston college, the u of Miami, or Vanderbilt?

I think you have a good shot at Delaware, and a pretty decent shot at BC and Wake Forest. As for UF, it is still a possiblity for you. You could always transfer in the future.

jko,
I imagine you have financial/academic safeties that you have not listed. If not, you may want to put in applications to other in state schools. Be aware, Financial Aid packages vary.

And my comment saying “How did you get rejected by UF?!” was meant to be a compliment, meaning that I’m surprised you got denied from UF since you seem like a like a strong applicant for UF.

I guess the low SAT/ACT scores are what did him in for UF… I gave him a “high match” rating for that reason.

Then again, UF is known not to have any admissions logic whatsoever. If you’re already in somewhere, you can put your act together there, then you can either transfer to UF or attend UF for grad school if your field required graduate education to get foot in the door.

Do you think it’d be worth my time to attempt an appeal? I think that I have more community service hours than really showed on my application and I’ll be getting my February SAT 2 results back in a few days. If that would help me

2012 UF convocation,26K applicants ,freshmen class attending 6300, average weighted GPA 4.2. You never mentioned how many AP/IB/honor classes did you take in school, did you take the hardest classes? did you go for challenging curriculum. Good EC’s but so is every other student, especially due to Florida scholarship reqirements as part of Bright Futures
