I will be depressed by the outcome, but chance me?

I'm a current junior trying to get into top schools but my ECs are kind of weak.

Public HS (2100 kids) in suburb north of Atlanta, I'm a white male

GPA: 97.75/100w, uw probably more like 91ish, 20ish/517

Courseload: Pretty much the hardest that I possibly can take, except a few PE and art classes. As a senior I plan on taking a Calc 2/3 course with GA Tech since I'm taking BC this year.

SAT: 2310, 800CR, 800M, 710W - First and only time (If that counts for anything)
In May I take MathII, Physics, and US History Subject Tests

APs: 5 on World History, taking 4 this year and 5 next year

ECs:
National Spanish Honor Society - actual volunteer work involved with this
Model UN - member 10-12, Co-president 11-12
Student Council - 11th, possibly 12th
Student Connect - Founder and President 11-12. Basically 5 people per day go to a local middle school and tutor 6th graders. Personally I go twice a week.
TAG (Talented and Gifted) - 9-12. For Honors type kids, we get to pick an extra class to go to once a week and we get certain privileges like internships and being on our school's video news/announcements network. Note that I have never done an internship though.

Work Experience:
Volunteered at local Senior Center summer before 10th, 8 hours a day for 4 days.
Party City (regional party supply store): Sep. 07-Jan. 08, 10-30 hours a week
Tutoring through above club and in my neighborhood, approx. 3 hours a week
Plan to work at Target that is being constructed currently until I graduate

Essays/Recs:
I'm sure my recs will be exemplary from a 10th Lang teacher who now sponsors my Tutoring club and my 11th Calc teacher. I don't know my GC very well however.
Although I don't know what the essay prompts will be, I've thought of writing about my parents' divorce, my nephew who was born in 2001, how I didn't eat for 6 months while in 6th grade because I was afraid of choking on stuff (weird I know but don't judge), and how I use humor every day (kids and teachers at school call me JC Smooth).

Planned Applications:
Harvard
Yale
Princeton
Virginia
Emory
GA Tech (I've heard that this is pretty much a slam dunk since I'm doing the Calc 2/3 course next year)

I hope to come across as pretty well-rounded and not a bookworm or anything. I know my ECs arent spectacular at all, but what do you guys think? Thanks a whole bunch in advance!

your scores are good and your jobs and ECs are okay so you have a good chance

I would say that you have a pretty good chance, especially if your essays are going to talk about your non-academic side (which your listed topics are about.)

Thanks for the encouragement guys. Anyone else?

Sat score sucks

=D

In at Ga. Tech, highly likely to be admitted to Emory & Virginia. Unlikely at the others. Part of the difficulty is that, as you pointed out, your ECs are weak and you will have substantial competition from other Atlanta area students. Other than your SAT I scores, nothing jumps out from your posted profile to distinguish you for Harvard, Yale or Princeton. Depending upon your interests, you might want to consider Chicago, Northwestern, Rice or Wash Univ. in St. Louis. You may also want to consider Davidson, Vanderbilt (awards lots of scholarships) and Duke. Although Duke is a reach for you as well, but not as unlikely as HYP.

^ Ya, I agree with the posts above.

1) Psh, your SAT sucks. 710 on writing? What are you illiterate or something?
2) Your EC's suck too. You didn't even win any international awards and you're not even the president of any national organization.

Pathetic. Everybody does that + a million other things.

3) Are you perfect in every way? Did your family donate a building for the college campuses? Is your father the president? No, so what makes you think you have a chance at HYP?

4) That's just plain stupid. 90% of the applicants are going to write about those topics, especially the last one.

REJECTED!!!!!!

I sincerely hope that butterbattle is joking.

Thanks for the honest critique icy. Good sarcasm butterbattle.

y do this if you'll get depressed?
what does our opinions (rly pretty much equal to ur own judgement) matter?

anyways... i think you should look for other schools besides hyp
find something that fits you for you and do your research. it'll make the whole process a lot more worthwhile, you more knowledgeable, and your essays/interviews in the future a lot more effective

you know what they say.. the hardest thing about harvard is getting in
and you know your doing it in part because of the name

Honestly, TheF, you're right. I definitely am caught up in the prestige of the top schools, but I am trying to do my own research. I've visited Emory and I plan to visit the rest on my list soon.

The funny thing is that I've grown up dreaming of going to Georgia Tech, but I recently realized that I can do better if I put my mind to it, and I'm just trying to see how far I could go. Thanks a lot for the input.
