I’ll chance back! Thank you guys
You SAT isn’t too impressive but it’ll do for some of the schools you listed (but definitely a disadvantage when applying to ivies, Uchicago, and such). Your ECs and volunteer work are better than average and show schools that you have character. I would highly recommend retaking the SAT or ACT if you have time, because your standardized test scores are your only main weakness and will hurt you. You’re pretty much in to Georgetown, and similar schools. But your chance for ivies don’t look too good but still possible. You have a good chance for ED. Best of luck and please do change me back on my thread!
@outlooker thank you I know they’re a bit low for ivies; I mainly want to get into Georgetown and Vassar- I’m an international- do I still have a good chance? thank you chancing back
Oh I didn’t see you’re international. Being international is a disadvantage. Are you applying for financial aid or are you a full pay student? That matters a lot if you’re international. I think your chances for Ivies are very low indeed. But you should have a good chance at Georgetown if you’re a full pay student.
I think that you are a competitive applicant at any school that you apply for. Obviously, schools will be looking for different types of people. One example is my school. I live in a very suburban area near New York that particular universities tend to embrace while others tends to shy away from. My school’s valedictorian and salutatorian were both rejected by Brown, yet were both accepted by Cornell. Some schools tend to be subjective towards international students while others like to take more in. It all depends on the school. Looking at your scores, you meet all of the criteria to have a shot at any school. Your SAT score is good and could be supplemented by a strong SAT II score in your area of interest. Your ECs are phenomenal. I don’t want this to be offensive, but your ethnicity may be the only part of your application that can hurt you. These days, schools are looking for hispanics or african-americans and, at times, are willing to reject an Asian candidate that may have worked harder than the Hispanic applicant. I really hope that doesn’t offend you in any way, but that’s something that I’ve noticed and would like you to be aware of. Other than that, your application is excellent. Chance me back! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1726742-do-i-have-any-chance.html#latest
@vortex275 thank you haha I know Asian is a disadvantage which is so unfair because I’ve worked so hard for this. My SAT II scores are okay (above 700) though not phenomenal. (I had to take them in subjects I’m not pursuing cuz they don’t offer eco or psych). Thanks for the input. Chancing back
I really think you have a good chance, with the only thing that may need improvement is your SAT score. I know colleges really like IB as a rigorous curriculum so that definitely helps you there. As for your extracurriculars and service, those are very impressive as well. Unfortunately the Ivies are really weird about who they accept so it’s hard to tell on that but I think you have a great chance on everything else!

Your stats alone would place you on the borderline bottom 25% of your Ivy and top school choices. Add on the fact that International applicants tend to be extremely qualified, you’re most definitely at a disadvantage just because of your location. Your ec’s are interesting however, which might give you a leg up but nowhere close to a hook.
