i used to think 8 was more than enough schools. however, as desicions are rolling in, i regret not having any accectances from the schools i want to attend. i have spoken to students who applied to over 30 and are unhappy even with that number. admission is so competitive that one must apply to every school to stand a chance. sometimes i wish i could be content to attend my local community college and live a simple, blue collar life. i doubt pton will accept me; i should not have had such high expectations for myself. I blame society.

i've always thought about living the simple consumer life style...

Eminem said "A plaque and platinum status is whack if Im not the baddest" - which is why it's HYPS or bust

Actually, I think 8-10 is a good number... I applied to 14 and it feels like to many ;o

Me too... I only applied to 4 though but I wish I applied to 20 .... or something... maybe next year.

I don't know of a single person who applied to 20 or 30 schools and think they have rocks in their heads to do so. One ought to be able to narrow down the list to a couple to several reaches, likelies, and safeties, anything more than that is overkill. Besides, at $60-$70 per app, you could vacation in the caribbean on the add'l fees. The key might be selecting appropriate schools for each of those categories. Don'g give up on P'ton yet--there's still hope...

I applied to 5 schools total and I have no regrets.

So far, I'm only in one of them and it was the last one on my list. Waitlisted at my No. 3 choice -- still waiting to hear from No. 1, No 2 and No 4 choices.

anybody who applies to 30 schools is a moron.

a little harsh, but the truth

I applied to seven. In at two (WUSTL, JHU, Penn State), rejected at two (Princeton, Schreyer Honors at Penn State), waiting on two (Penn, ND).
