Anyone Apply To A Ridiculous Number of Schools?

Brag here. Or tell your horror stories. Let's see who has the most.

If you applied to a lot of schools, are you glad you did? Why did you do it? Would you do it again if you had to do the whole thing over again? What was hard/not so hard?

Stories, stories, stories. Let's go overachieving indecisive people, a thread all for us!

I applied to 9 because there were a lot I was interested at the time. Now that I am further into my search, I have narrowed it down and there are a few I am no longer that interested in, however, I was still interested them at the time. Better safe than sorry. Luckily I only had 4 app that cost money, the rest were free.

i know a kid who did 33. but that’s just ****ing nutssss

OMG 33. No way. Are you serious? That is just sick on so many levels…

I’m assuming that person was taking 8 AP classes, did Duel Enrollment and was president of 50 clubs.

OMG.

xD

33 is nuts. But you would think that if he had those stats ^ he wouldn’t need to apply to so many. And if each app was say $60 -> wow.

I’ve got a list of 17 right now but I’ll probably cut it down to under a dozen that I actually apply to.

Same here, actually. Except my list is more like 20 something. I’m not sure how many I should try to cut it down to. So…I’m seeing if I can get any “I applied to 15 schools!” major success stories.

By the way, Secret Asian Man, nice username. …Not such a secret anymore, is it?

xD

Right now, there are about 25 on the list. But they’ll start to be eliminated in bunches once I go visiting some more. For example, there are a bunch of big publics, and I might end up hating that atmosphere and not apply to any or decide it is perfect. I mean, I can’t possibly go visit U Dub or Minnesota, but can probably assume what they are like based on Penn State and UMCP (anyone have any feedback on this? Are giant publics essentially the same?).

I still plan on applying to 10-15 schools, because my stats are weird and maybe one reach will look at me favorably.

My cousin lives in Virginia but wants to go to college in California. (Which is crazy because his family is poor and he has 2 other siblings also) He applied to every UC school and some other schools in Cali. His parents made him apply to 2 east coast schools just incase he didn’t make it into any schools on the west coast. He picked 2 at random that some friends were applying to. Ends up he didn’t make it into any CA schools so far (his family thinks he won’t make it into any of them. He didn’t do very good in HS) but he made it in to both east coast schools. He told me he doesn’t like either of the east coast schools and doesn’t know what to do now.

Make sure you apply to some safety schools you LIKE!

I applied to 23 schools. . .yes I know

Wow that is a lot! It must have cost your family a lot too!

no i got a scholarship to pay for it

To pay for all of them? Wow that’s good!

I replied to 18 or 19. I honestly don’t remember and don’t feel like counting haha :stuck_out_tongue: i wanted to keep my options open!

my parents will only let me apply to four next year

but, I didn’t finish the GW application

12, accepted to 7 of 8 that I’ve heard from.

You shouldn’t let your parents limit you. . .you could always get fee waivers

Those are impressive schools AKDigger! UVA is my top choice right now!
