<p>I know what it stands for, but I have no idea what it is. Can someone explain to me what you do during IAP?</p>

<p>Anything you want. Take that quite literally.</p>

<p>There are TONS of different things you can do. I think you can even choose to not do anything at all (but don't quote me on that). Though, who would want to go home? :p</p>

<p>It's basically a special four-week term at MIT. Actually for a good overview, check out <a href="http://web.mit.edu/iap/overview.html%5B/url%5D"&gt;http://web.mit.edu/iap/overview.html&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p>

<p>Lots of people work at UROPs, take PE classes, and attend talks/events put on by various departments. And sleep in a lot.</p>
