IB Chemistry or IB Biology in Junior year

IB Bio vs IB Chemistry ?

I like both BUT I like Chemistry more than Biology as of now (Sophomore year)

I will probably do an undergraduate program in NeuroScience or Biomed Eng, and eventually plan to go to med school

If I take SL and HL in the same subject, only HL counts so, if I take Chemistry(SL) in my junior year and Chemisty(HL) in Senior year, only Chemistry HL goes in the transcript

My worry is about how my application will look without Biology in my high school transcripts when i am trying to major in neuroscience or bio medical engineering and trying to be in the pre-med programs.

I guess I could take IB Bio (SL) AND IB Chem (SL) in my Junior yr and IB Chem (HL) in my senior year but I am interested in taking IB Psychology in my junior year which will
count for my SL credits.

Thoughts ?

im sorry i dont have an answer for your question, but ill bump this for you
i have a question as well… im a junior and im in IBSL bio right now and im kinda worried because many people are saying that sl bio is really easy and i know colleges want u to have taken the most challenging/rigorous courses in high school… was ibsl bio a bad choice? shoud i have taken physics/chem instead? the reason why i chose sl bio is i like bio but im not interested in going to a med school or anything (im more of a social studies person)… do you think colleges would think that i didnt choose hard enough courses in high school or would they know that i chose it cuz i enjoy it?

Okay so I’ll try to answer both. (really should have put this in IB forum) OP, at my school we have to have a year of biology, a year of chemistry, and a year of physics, so I’m wondering have you taken biology before this? And I think that you should take Chemistry if you want, IB Psych is really interesting(Plus my IB Program requires a Group 6). I think all junior IB classes start out at SL and your senior year, you get to choose HL or not(maybe). Generally, IB prepares you for college, so all IB classes are supposedly pretty rigorous(Physics seems much harder compared though). Plus, YU don’t declare a major til your sophomore year. And @imurfan, the only thing about SL, is that you probably won’t get college credit for it, so depending on the college, you will have to take a science class anyway. You know that you probably don’t want to go in the science field, so make the HL subjects like English, History, and whatever else(Art?). Like I said earlier, although American colleges are starting to recognize IB more and is compared to AP in credits, it prepares you better for college. I hope I helped! I’m a junior too so I’m just starting IB kinda. (Neuroscience is SUPER COOL)
