IB Courses

I know that this board is for international students but I have a question about IB classes.

I am moving to a different city next year, my senior year, and I have been doing research on the schools in the area that I will be moving to. There is a school there that offers IB classes and doesn't like to let seniors join, but they are willing to consider me. In short, is it logical for someone to take one year of an IB course?

sure why not? If its the toughest course there take it !

I'm glad to hear it....now I'm not sure which classes they offer (I go in for an interview next week) but which classes do you recommend.

Well in my case all my classes are required. If you are not going for the diploma take a balance between AP and IB classes with usual dose of math science and foreign lanugage:)

IB higher classes are 2 year classes in nearly all cases. I am not sure you can logistically join these, as the curricular scope and sequence is somewhat different than many others. I would not enter a HIgher level class at the 2nd year unless you are extraordinary in that area...

IB standard classes are 1 year long and there is no reason to not take them, if you would like. But, be aware that IB standard exams usually do not much for college placement or credit.

I'm a senior in IB and a potential IB diploma candidate. I think it's a waste for you to join IB in your senior year because you are only going to take standard level classes and you have to score high for some schools to accept those for college credit. I recommend you to take AP classes instead because to me if you're no receiving the IB diploma then it's a waste.
