IB extended essay

ok, this isn't really test related but i don't know where else to put it. anyway, i'm starting my extended essay this summer and i'm not sure how to approach it. i'm guessing i'll just do research and figure out a specific question out of what i have since my topic is kind of difficult. any advice about the whole process?

i'm also doing the extended essay. i was going to start it today....but ehhh "ma

Have you met with your mentor? He/She should really be able to help you get started. I sat down with mine and came up with a research question. I actually have started writing (last night), it really does come pretty easily once you work out how to start. Good luck!

i'm doing history. i wanted to do something with the spread of culture through the silk road, but i realized this seems to be more narrative and i need to analyze it more. that's true, i should e-mail my mentor and find out more

I met with my advisor at an Einstein's a few weeks ago and we talked about my topic for a while...basically came up with a question, but she really has no idea about the topic that I am doing, so it's up to me to focus it correctly. Also there is an extended essay flowchart which your school should have given you. It basically says what you would expect it to say, but it can be helpful...here's what it says:

Research

1.Topic
2. Focus
3. Search for Sources
4. Research Question
5. Preparatory Reading
6. Working Outline
7. Assemble Sources/Materials
8. Recording Information/Data

Writing

Shaping the Outlines

Rough Draft

Revising and Editing

Proofreading

Final Copy

I have basically been doing 1-8 of the research process for the past few weeks now. I'm just about ready to begin writing, which I know will go quickly.

If you need any additional help, feel free to PM me.

Yeah, that's a crucial part of the essay -- ANALYSIS and examination.

my spanish EE will focus around a culture (the sephardim) that is very much alive today. I will have to discuss some background, but a large majority of my essay will be devoted to analysis in general.

estar, I would like to do mine in history, as well! Something like a growing trend in history or something. Anyway, tell me what your revised topic when you figure it out.

history has always been the most popular EE subject.

Yes because its easy to analyse things in history and its fun if you pick a topic in history that you like.

I've heard people do math ones (did you hear about the kids who wrote entirely about '1+1'? Yes, it was a valid essay. They made good grades) or science ones, but I don't know how you would do that. HIstory, you can go to a library and the information is there for you. I suppose another popular choice is Lit.

eeep, is there some sort of rubick of how they score the EE somwhere?

Yes. This is the official IB extended essay Guidebook. it includes all the information you could ever need to write an extended essay, in whichever subject you choose, and how it will be assessed and much more. I have found this guidebook to be of great value recently.

<a href="http://users.bergen.org/ricwee/EE/IBEE.pdf%5B/url%5D">http://users.bergen.org/ricwee/EE/IBEE.pdf</a></p>

please note that this particular one, which i found on google, is from a few years ago. i think it has stayed virtually if not exactly the same ever since.

You might want to look at this web site:

<a href="http://www.ibscrewed.net/%5B/url%5D">http://www.ibscrewed.net/</a></p>

I go to that website. Don't start making topics like "EE advice??" There are some things in search and if you can't find it in search, you probably can't get it by making a new topic.
