I'm currently a high school senior, and I'm having a conflict with my class selections.

I took AP Lang in 11th grade and I signed up for AP Lit for senior year, but due to scheduling conflicts I was put into normal English 12. I went to my counselor to try to find a more suitable English class, but the only other English class that fit into my schedule was IB HL English Year 1. I am a senior, so I won't complete the full two year course or the IB exam.

I know that the class is more rigorous, but is it really worth the added stress if I'm not completing the whole IB course and won't be eligible for college credit? Additionally, I went and spoke to the teacher and she flat-out told me that she's really strict and students despise her throughout the two-year course, she even described herself as a b*tch (without any hint of sarcasm). I spoke to other students about her and they all said it was a bad idea. I'm afraid I'm setting myself up for disaster. Additionally, I have no free periods in my schedule which includes 4 other APs, and I'm planning to take part in the school play, 2 varsity sports, as well as doing research with a biology professor.

The colleges I'm applying to are all highly selective many of which are Ivies, included in the top 20 universities in the United States, and elite liberal arts colleges.

Would taking the regular English 12 class look exceptionally bad to college admissions officers or would keeping IB HL English Year 1 be a better idea.
