IB issues and school not cooperating, please help!

Our child is in the process of transferring from his current IB school to another where he can sit his IB exams (he is a 2 year student).
There were big issues with his school, and although he did make some serious mistakes they started targeting him in recent weeks and called us one day saying he was going to be expelled (won’t get into details, but it was unwarranted). We negotiated instead a withdrawal and transfer from the school. We are currently looking for a new institution but the old school isn’t really cooperating and of course we are very close to IB exams, so its hard to find institutions that would accept him as a student. The issue is that the old school talked to the IB board and they told them our child must attend courses and receive some form of education in these last months, and can’t simply sit the exam (although he has completed ALL requirements and course work).

As of right now we are contacting schools (if you have any suggestion in the EU or the UK that would allow for our situation please do feel free to share them) and trying to understand what to do. Does anybody know if the IB actually has the policy that the school indicated to us (that he has to attend classes and can’t simply take his exam although all the coursework is complete)? Does anybody know of any way to take coursework online?
We don’t really know how to go about the situation, any insight you can provide or suggestions on how to solve the situation are greatly appreciated!

I don’t know the answer to your IB question but think it is possible that as a degree conferring organization, it is possible that attendance at an IB accreditated school would be a requirement.

The International School of Brussels is an IB school. Became it serves a largely expat community, they might be amenable to accepting your child at this point in the year.

Your other option would be to continue at one of the boarding schools that offers IB. It’s unusual for a student to transfer in at this point in the year, but if they have a bed, it’s possible that they could accommodate him.

thank you for your reply, will look into the Brussels option.
We know its unusual, but we weren’t expecting all of this to happen… I would imagine that especially seeing the COVID issues around the world the IB would accomodate somehow, but I guess we will see.
Thanks!
