Math HL was the most intimidating class for the first month, but then it got better as I got into the rhythm of things. I had always considered myself a strong math student, but I basically failed the first test I had in that class. Be prepared to work hard.

English HL isn’t bad. Everyone at my school’s required to do HL. We just discuss lit for the most part, and have maybe two or three literary analyses due a quarter.

Yeah, I plan to take Further Mathematics SL, or at least Self-study.

I’d personally go with IB Math SL - I’m on track for IB Math HL and I’m dreading it, but because I’m taking precalc this year, I can’t drop down. If you want to do sciences, you should be okay with just IB SL math. If this is your junior schedule, you can always take AP Calc BC after IB Math SL and get college credit for it.

Although you’re going into science, it might be a good thing to take English HL. It’s always good to have an advanced English class (and have writing skills).

And MIThopeful - I’m pretty sure the IBO doesn’t allow self-studying because, IA’s are part of the exam grade and you need a class/teacher to do them.

My school has had one Person self study the IB further Mathematics Course and take the exam, with the help of a teacher for all the legal purposes.

Maths HL at my school is considered to be the hardest class in IB. Students who are taking it are math and science geniuses. I tried Maths HL for a week and dropped it. Now I am a 7 or A in Maths Sl and loving it!

IB English Hl is like a fake HL, not much new is learnt.

I’m a sophomore who plans to take Math IB HL next year…and I’m scared *****less, lol.

I’m a senior in IB and math sucks! I have my IA due very soon and I am freaking out.
