Ib math sl over algebra 2?

Would ib math sl be sufficient prep for the sat in comparison to algebra 2? I know that there is algebra 2 on the sat but I am not taking that class because I’m taking algebra 2 instead. Would taking ib math sl get me as prepared as taking an algebra 2 class or close to it,or will I miss out on significant information that is only in algebra 2?

IB math SL presupposes you already took Algebra2. Have you spoken with you math teacher?

Yes he said I will get the information I need in ib but I didn’t mention the sat

IB So is one level above Algebra2. So if you get the math you need in the way your school structures the classwork then you’ll have enough to take the sat because your first year will include algebra2 and Precalculus plus some Stats and your second year you’ll study calculus and some stats/probability.
I’d recommend going over algebra2 concepts through Khan academy over the summer because the pace must be very fast for kiss who’ve not taken algebra2.

However are you sure you’re talking about IB Math SL and not IB Math Studies?

Yes I’m sure and thank you for the khan academy tip!

Any specific topics?

Nobody at my school has taken IB Math SL as a replacement for Algebra II. Just do Algebra II instead along with daily practice on Khan Academy, and you’ll be better off in the long run  There are topics that are only covered in Algebra II (i.e. complex numbers and rational expressions) that are on the SAT.

There is only review of pre calc in ib math sl, not solely algebra 2. However, the SAT only tests you up to Algebra 2.
