ib score..below par..chance plz?

<p>alright so heres the issue...my friend wants to apply for geology.. he has done the ib and the score isnt very good..HOWEVER i think his ECs r really exceptional...... stats....
ib diploma = 29
toefl = 100 (yes hes international)
ECs = tons of environmental work....writing...art..charity..went to indonasia in gap year to work with kids.....</p>

<p>needs around 45k in scholarship.....
any chances??</p>

<p>also, in grd 10 and 11, he had a nice score of 35+ but it came down in the final year due to a few unfortunate personal events....wont apply with sat..but might send in a small art+writin portfolio....</p>

<p>also…if possible…needs more colleges in list…small lacs with alot of international aid…any suggestions?? i was thinking about colby?MAYBE…it gonna be a reach but y not…</p>

<p>A little late to respond but I guess I’ll give you some information anyway. </p>

<p>I am taking the IB right now and have been getting about a 40 every trimester since the start of the diploma program (none less than a 38 and I’m not counting EE or TOK points). When I talked to the admissions, they said that my grades could compete with other American applicants. So I would say that a 29 is low, but it’s not out of the question, he should still apply (hopefully he did). Remember, the IB is made for very academically talented students, so achieving an average grade of 29 simply means he is averagely very academically talented (yes, a 29 is the global average IB score). </p>

<p>Regarding other LACs, Colby is a very good school and they value the IB pretty well; if you achieve a 36+ on the final IB you can skip directly to sophomore year:</p>
