IB scores and Class ranking opinion

Hello guys! Im not sure if this is more of a chance me topic but yea...

I was just wondering about several things.

First off, I just got my IB predicted score in today and I was predicted a 37. My friends mostly got 40+ and a couple got full score. I was just wondering how good is my 37 and what universities would I have a chance at based on these scores.

Also, I got my ranking today and the guidance counsellor said I was in the top 10% of my grade which has 600 or so students. How good is this?

I'm pretty certain HYPS is 100% rejection and chances for Iveys is also pretty slim but what are my chances for schools like Northwestern, Washington University at St louis, UCLA and UC San Diego. FYI. I have 2150 on my SATS

Hey there!

Standardized test scores, if good, are great to show to colleges, but don’t worry about them too much. To be honest, the colleges you listed are some of the top-tiered schools in the nation. And the way these schools do admissions is totally weird. They will be holistic in their review of your application, so I would suggest writing a really strong essay. Also, if you have good ECs, that wouldn’t hurt either. This is not to say, that the stats you listed are bad. They are quite good, and I don’t you should worry about them too much. You have a fairly good chance of getting into UCLA, UCSD, and WashU.

Good luck!

P.S.: Apply to some Ivys too. You never know. They surprise many applicants.

Thanks so much for your response
In terms of EC, im not doing too well.
I have about 1000 hours of volunteering and 1 club presidency for 2 years but other than that, i have nothing. :$

Those are good, and your 1000 hours of volunteeer work is definitely very outstanding (unfortunately most colleges consider those not as important as ECs). And you have leadership ability. All in all, it’s better than nothing!

Good luck!
