IB Students and SAT IIs?

<p>Hi. I'm an IB Student and I'm starting to worry about whether I'll be properly prepared for SAT IIs when the time comes to take them because of my participation in the IB program versus taking AP classes (which unfortunately are not available at my school.) I'm planning on taking IB Math HL, Chemistry SL (No HL at our school...), and Physics SL (No HL again...). Will these classes adequately prepare me for the respective subject tests, or will I need a lot of additional preparation?</p>

<p>Additional info: Planning to take SAT Math II instead of Math I if that makes a difference.</p>

<p>The IB courses from my experiences do not really prepare students very well for the SAT II. I am a diploma student (Math HL Chem HL Bio SL Hist SL Eng a1 HL Chinese b SL) and took the SAT math II, Chem, and Bio. As for bio, the materials taught are way to shallow for the SAT Bio tests, but Chem HL was more than enough for SAT chem tests. As for math level II, it is incredibly easy (i mean a kid who takes mathematical methods can probably get 800), so you shouldn’t bother take SAT Math I. </p>

<p>I have a couple of friends who took Chem SL and thought that the test was still a little bit hard compared to what they have learned. </p>

<p>Some of my buddies who took Physics HL found the SAT Physics test one of the hardest SAT tests. As for the kids who took Physics SL and the SAT Physics test, most of their replies were “damn hard.”</p>

<p>You’ll need a study guide. SATIIs and AP’s match up nicely but IB’s do not match up neatly to any of those. </p>

<p>Can anyone else give me some insight based on their experiences? So far it seems like I’ll end up taking Math II and Chem because I’ll be best prepared for them, but I sort of wanted to take the Physics SAT II. Is the Physics subject test really that difficult?</p>

<p>I disagree. IB can definitely prepare you for SAT IIs. I got 800s in Math II and Physics in May with no practice from preparation books - just pure knowledge from IB. By the way, I just finished my first year of IB and I am a full diploma candidate.</p>

<p>If it matters, I’m predicted 7s for all subjects except one… if that shows any correlation between SAT IIs and IB scores.</p>
