IB Students taking SATIIs?

I've heard from many people that if you take APs then taking the SATIIs in the same subject will be quite easy because they're very similar.

How difficult is it and how much preparation is necessary for IB students.

For example, I'm taking Math HL, Physics HL and Econ HL, and at standard level I'm taking French SL, English SL and Chemistry SL. If I were to take SATIIs, I'd probably take Math 2, Physics and Chemistry. How difficult would these be for me? Would they cover similar topics? And also, how much preparation would be necessary?

Thanks :)

I think it shouldn't be a problem, especially for math and physics; you may need to review a little for math just because a lot of the material covered in math HL is way beyond the scope of the SATII test, so it could be useful to review the "more basic" concepts.

I'm doing Chem HL, and I found that there were a few topics that we hadn't covered yet in the class but were tested on the SATII, but for the most part, it wasn't a big deal.

I'd recommend getting some prep books (check out your library to see if they have any) just to see what is expected for the test, and what is beyond the scope.

i take IB Math HL too!

in my opinion (im going to take SAT II Math II in 6 days!) math II won't be that much of a problem except for one thing: conic sections.
IB Math HL took that out from the syllabus some time ago so you would have to self-teach that part. for me, it was more of memorization, so that could be harder if you are more of an 'understand to get it' type rather than 'i rote memorize everything'.

well good luck!

Thanks for the responses. I'll check out the study guides and topics that come up to see what extra stuff I'll need to revise.

Good luck in the exam, mistofolis!

Do they have a syllabus for each SATII subject test, so that you can see exactly which topics come up and what you need to know, or is that all listed in the prep books?

Thanks again :)

I think the Collegeboard lists the topics on their website; I'm not sure how much detail they give though.
