What do you mean by usual GPA? How much credit they give or how high the avg IB student has?

Generally IB classes are weighted (5=A instead of 4=A).

As in how high they give, so yeah I was looking for the 5=A bit lol. Thanks.

audentes, I was in the same boat, so I created a thread. Most people said not to fret because the school might look at your grades in the context of your school or the IB on a whole. :)

I’m taking HL: Math, Chemistry, Economics. SL: Physics, English, French and my junior year is about to start in 2 days
What about you guys?

Thanks Arvp11, that’s good to know. thecrimson are you going the diploma? Good luck with the HL math haha.

anyone know how the Bio HL and History HL tests are like?
Only tests I’m scared for.

I haven’t officially started, but I’ll be a junior testing physics SL and bio SL this year. I’ll be going full diploma with English HL, Math HL, history HL and Spanish SL hopefully with certificates in Film HL and Econ SL if my schedule allows.

@ wazzadude999

So I took a mock exam for the History HL exam at the end of my junior year, and it was pretty good. I got a 6. Paper 1 is the Document Analysis, and I hate documents, but it turned out better than I thought. If you are scoring like 14+ on documents now then I wouldn’t freak too much. Paper 2 was okay, and Paper 3 is what I’m really nervous about because I feel we don’t spend as much class time on it.

Look at former IB questions from the exams. My teacher is an examiner and he writes the exams but only the November ones because that wouldn’t be fair…Whenever he asks us to write essays for homework he asks us to try and write them within an hour so that we can get used to the pressure of exam writing. It’s difficult, but it forces you to memorize quotes, and dates etc. so that your essay doesn’t lack depth. (even under exam conditions)

On another note, its important to read the questions…My teacher told us about these kids who were writing the HL Asia Paper and misread the question and spoke about M. Ghandi instead of Indira Ghandi or those who got right wing and left wing confused, or those who simply wrote about the wrong century. Most of these kids would have done a whole lot better if they would have just read a little bit more carefully. :)

@Ktk: Dude, that’s some serious thing you’re talking about :P. 8IB and 6HLs? I’m going to die from that XD
Am taking Full Diploma now and aiming for high 30s(and probably 40s) predicted
Economics, Math, Vietnamese A1 HL
English A2, Business, Physics SL
and EE and TOK.

I’m taking History, English, and Chemistry HL and Art History SL, plus AP Calc. I tested SL in math and spanish last year, my school doesn’t offer math HL. My schedule seems pretty light by CC standards, I know, but we only offer 6 classes (+zero period TOK) and one of my classes is always taken up by theatre (which we don’t have as an IB class unfortunately)

One more semester of TOK, but I’m done with the EE :)

Did any of your schools send delegates to the IB World Student Conference? I just got back from that and it was awesome.

My school does IB!
Soph year I did MM1, Jr year I had MM2, English SL, US History SL, Business SL, and Physics SL. This year I have TOK, French SL, Psych SL, Business HL, and English HL.

Not a diploma person.

I’m doing IB this year(in Junior Year), and my school just started the IB program.
The only thing I’m apprehensive about it the Mathematics SL course.
I’m pretty good at most everything except math(which I’m mediocre at) so yeah…
I’ going for an IB Diploma(the one with EE, CAS, 7 courses…) so I’m pretty busy.
If anyone’s starting an IB CAS project, try something that doesn’t require much in the way of funds, because fund-raising is a massive headache. Do a creative form of tutoring or something.

Full candidate :)

Econ, Bio, Math studies- SL
English, History, Spanish- HL

@randhill:
Easy: Math HL, Physics HL, Comp Sci HL, Music SL, ToK
Hard: English HL History HL Biology HL.
Seems pretty chill.

Hard HL tests I’ll be taking: Math & English.

Probably the hardest part of the IB Diploma will be if I get to make all the senior year tests due to schedule conflicts, and then the Extended Essay which I’m very unmotivated for;;

Guys please if someone knows, does Ivies look at your predicted as your possible GPA if I dont have usual GPA at school in my year11/12?

Also, what is a good amounts of points to have very good chances, I mean above average, I guess 40-42+, or?
