IB Support for all the CCers in IB courses <3

So maybe I'm mistaken and a thread like this already exists- but I haven't found it. Sometimes I get a little dejected when I get on CC and I don't see the IB Love. This is the place for that. :D

TOK/EE/HL/SL/Diploma/Certificate

let's talk IB.

Let’s do it.

I’m taking 8 IB classes senior year, but not too worried about it… The courses are pretty laid back here.

6 HLs, but I can only test 4 HL… ._. This is what I find lame about IB rules. I’ll have to take the AP tests, and they don’t really overlap well.

5 tests this year with one AP. But I haven’t even started my EE X_X

one IB class

not envious of those doing the EE

Full Candidate - hoping to be predicted 45/45 but will probably be 44/45 (Damn, Math HL!).

woah chinesedumplings, that’s amazing! jealousy…
oh the EE :)

Right now I’m a sophomore in Pre-cal and i don’t know which test ill end up taking. I know that some of the kids that are taking AP Calc this year as sophomores are on the track to HL Math but I’m a year behind but still too ahead to take the lowest IB math test, Math Studies (SL). I’ve heard that, for math, theres a test in between SL(studies) and HL called math methods. Is this true and, if so, considering that I’m in pre cal, am I on the right track to take it?

Math methods = mehh. I’m not sure on what exactly it covers.

Precalc > Math SL > Math HL

Take HL senior year, or if you don’t want to, take the SL test and take HL for kicks.

I like my EE topic, heh

Wow. I’m not sure how that works. We take whatever we take for two years (junior and senior), and we don’t change. Maybe you guys aren’t full candidates so you can take different courses each year. Math SL is a joke compared to HL. My friend was in HL with me and he was getting 2s and 3s, then he dropped to SL and got between 95 and 100% in each test.

Yeah, it’s the same at my school. I’m in Math Studies (which is not very difficult- and i hate math) and it’s a two year course- junior and senior year. HL is crazy hard, or so i hear from the like 7 kids out of 130 in my grade who take it. But if you do HL and it’s too overwhelming drop to SL. There usually is some amount of leeway the beginning of junior year.

oh, yah I was planning to take Ib bio Hl and Ib math hl. Our school dosen’t over that many Ib’s.:(

hey it’s great seeing an IB community starting to form on CC
I’m starting IB this coming school year and I’m still very confused about which course to take for my 6th group. I’m deciding between IB physics, theatre, and geography (all SL). Can someone who has taken one or more of these courses before or know about these courses please tell me a little more about them (i.e. the difficulty, workload etc.) Thanks!

Ok so this is what I’ve heard…
Geography SL is easier than Physics SL in most cases.
Physics is just a really difficult IB course. If Physics isn’t your
strong suit- make sure you have a great teacher. Theater SL
is great, if you are an awesome writer- it’s more writing intensive than most
students realize. It’s also more than acting, so you have to be interested in
multiple aspects of and kinds of theater. I’ve also heard that there isn’t
a very big difference between Theater SL and HL, but this may not be true.

IB Physics is great  In the sense it’s not easy, but I don’t think its as bad as people say.

I’m doing a full diploma
Eco,Chem,Phy-HL
Math,Spa,Eng-SL

Yeah… I’ve heard that Physics HL is one of the hardest IB courses… strangely enough, the IB website says that 31% of all students in Physics HL score a 7 o.O

The grade boundarie for a 7 in physics Physics is ~ 70%

I wanna take IB Physics, but they only offer SL :[. I think I’m going to take it as my Course 6 elective though. My school does things weird, since we combine AP tests into the IB curriculum.

IB Physics [SL or 1st year HL as far as I know] is easy, and not stressful at all. If you’re in any sort of advanced math (SL Math, yes, yes) it should be a breeze.

my school does the combined class thing

for instance i’m doing AP english + IB english HL

same thing for every other AP/IB class

Hey, I’m new here and I’m doing the IB diploma, EE is tedious! I’m doing:
English, History, Economics HL
Italian ab initio, Chemistry and Math SL

Also the horrendous EE (ok maybe its not that bad) and TOK.

Do you guys know the usual GPA assigned to IB courses? My school doesn’t give any so I’m getting a bit nervous for college apps.
