Okay, so, Harvard takes IDOC, but they also want fin aid in by 2/1? Because IDOC isn't available until early February, and that's going to be impossible. oO

For the FAFSA (and CSS) you will have to estimate your 2008 stuff; and then when your tax returns become available, send them via IDOC to Harvard (they'll match up your actual tax returns with the estimated values on the FAFSA)

here's what is on Harvard's website:

"The 2009-2010 FAFSA will be available from your high school guidance office by December 2008 (or online at FAFSA - Free Application for Federal Student Aid). File the FAFSA as soon as possible after January 1, 2009. Designate Harvard as one of your recipients by using 'Harvard University, Cambridge, MA 02138.' Our federal code number is E00468. We realize that you may not have access to your final 2008 tax information by these deadlines and ask that you complete the FAFSA using the best estimated figures available."

Ok, thanks, that makes waaaay more sense!

Yeah, I was freaking out too until I saw this. Nothing is as bad as WashU's deadline - January 15 for the FAFSA!!! That was ridiculous..

Oh, GOD. :O

^ Haha, my sentiments EXACTLY.

yeah, and then WUSTL emailed me on Jan. 16th to tell me i didn't have to turn in my finaid stuff on Jan. 15.... They were a bit late, i'd already spent the last couple of days panicking over getting it done.

^yeah, their website says they don't even start processing FAFSA stuff until feb. 1

so do we use the 2009-2010 fafsa with 2008 estimates?

^ Yeah, that's what I did

"so do we use the 2009-2010 fafsa with 2008 estimates?"

yeah, since your parents' 2008 tax returns won't be complete (the gov't is not required to give all the forms necessary to everyone until january 31... so naturally they'll wait until the 31st to get all that stuff out)
