Idoc?

Do any financial aid veterans know how trustworthy this service is? It seems a little shady that we have to print off our tax returns and mail them - it doesn't seem very secure.

My parents are concerned about this and are reluctant to send this information is this form. Any words of wisdom?

Are you talking about this IDOC?
Institutional Documentation Service (IDOC)

You could ask them or see <a href=“Institutional Documentation Service (IDOC) – CSS Profile | College Board”>Institutional Documentation Service (IDOC) – CSS Profile | College Board;

Yes, IDOC is a trust worthy service. Many schools have the students submit their financial aid forms through IDOC (which is basically a clearinghouse for CSS profile schools). IDOC gathers all of the information and sends it electronically to your school. Some financial aid offices will not accept financial aid forms unless they are sent through IDOC. IF the school is requesting that you send your information through IDOC and you don’t you won’t get the aid.

Do they think it would be more secure to send a copy of the same documents independently to each of the schools where you’re asking for financial aid? It might be more convenient to submit electronically, but certainly not any more secure (do they realize how many computers their files bounce off of, when sent over the internet)?

Thank you for the reassurance everyone.
