Iems

So I keep hearing about how Northwestern is recruited by 4/6 or 5/6 of the top management consulting firms. Do most of these jobs go to IEMS kids? Do MMSS/Econ kids get these consulting jobs as well?

I'm not sure what I want to do, but I'm leaning towards consulting over i-banking at this point. I'm guessing a MMSS/Econ/IEMS triple would be impossible and suicidal?

Edit

Found this on the IEMS Career Site:

"The Class of 2004

72 students graduated with the BS IE degree. Of the 72, three graduated with second B.S. degrees in Manufacturing Engineering, two with second B.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering, and one with a second B.S. in Music. Twenty-three members of the class fulfilled the requirements for a major in Economics. Four students will purse masters degrees and one will attend law school at universities such as Stanford, M.I.T., and the University of Chicago. Companies that hired this year's IE graduates include Accenture, UPS, Quaker Oats, Motorola, Prcewaterhouse Coopers, and J.P. Morgan."

Don't see any top 6 MC (McKinsey/Bain/BCG/Booz/Mercer/Monitor) there...what's going on?

u r nuts for even thinking about it...im guessing you want to throw in both kellogg certificate programs as well? they have to give great jobs to econ majors as well. maybe management consulting doesnt lend itself toward industrial engineering majors? where's sam lee? he knows all the answers and then some.

nutmeg88,

At least 3 students accepted offers from all of those 6 firms last year. MC is fairly flexible with people's majors though. You don't have to be IEMS or econ to land those jobs.

Relax. You haven't even registered for your first set of classes.
Get to school, make some friends, and do some homework before fretting over what major will get you your dream of making 6 figures straight out of school doing.

yeah i agree with brackis heheh, you are going to have a panic attack, any major you mentioned works, just pick one that you like the best and you get the best grades in, jobs are competitive but not to THIS EXTENT
