does this mean you have a better chance? Last year at my school, 16 people applied and 7 got admitted, 4 chose to attend. That's almost 50% admission rate for our school.

I hope so. My school gets quite a few in every year too so it'd be nice if there was some correlation.

Yes, but your personal stats still matter. What it means is that Cornell likes the curriculum available at your school, and is willing to accept more from it because they feel they are very prepared.

Ugh.. that kinda kills my chances. We havent had anyone go to a good school in ages

This does NOT kill your chances. It is not a requisite that a student has been accepted from your school before for YOU to be accepted. If you have taken full advantage of what IS available, then that will be considered.

3 people from my school applied this year. Of these were the valedictorian, #11/300, and myself (#12/300+). The val and I were given GT's, and the #12 was rejected. I know one of the adcoms, and he said my high school is seen as very unprepared in math/science (very true...) I don't think it will necessarily lead to rejections, but it will lower the significance of your rank and average.

It means your school is a good school and kids there are competitive. Now if you do well among those kids you get in.

Ok that means me feel good, b/c my school sends around 40-50 kids to Cornell every year.

A lot of kids from my school apply to Cornell every year, and a very good amount get admitted and eventually enroll. In-state reduced tuition + Ivy League Education=Winning combination

I think for the Class of 2012, we have 20+ freshman that matriculated. Pretty amazing considering we were usually under 10 for the past two years.

wow, those are pretty ridiculous numbers, my school only gets 5 per year -_-

WOAH geez where do you people attend school? (that's a rhetorical question.)

usually we have like a handful, but this year I'm the only one. I am glad I apparently went to a lousy HS?

i went to the school that most ppl considered as the best school in nyc

we had 6 apply and 4 got in, all of them attend now.
