if accepted ED, what to do with non-ED pending apps?

i dont understand if i have to withdraw my applications from other colleges. they’re all RD or EA, but none that are ED. do i call the colleges i applied to and tell them, or do i wait for their decision letters and not enroll? any insight appreciated, thanks

You have to withdraw your applications if accepted ED. You could call or write a letter.

Yeah, you have to withdraw. I kinda want to know about my RD apps too, LOL. But that's kinda selfish of me considering that I could take someone else's spot. Well, not really because of the wait list. Can colleges find out about this, if it happens?

i'd send a mass email out to the admissions secretary/contact person at each non ED school you've applied to. fast, easy, and cheap. they won't mind you didn't call or write a letter.

Withdraw your apps. Give that spot to somebody who needs it. And it doesn't matter how you do it... after all, you won't be going to these schools, who cares what they think, as long as they get the message?

well, just be nice about it. you might want to go their grad schools :p

would you email to tell an adcom who has personally been contacting you, even if you have not applied (though they probably expect you to) ?

Withdraw all of your apps. Somebody else wants your spot, and besides, if you don't withdraw the apps, nothing good's gonna happen to you.

Withdraw your apps. Being accepted off a wait list is not the same as being accepted outright (you mentioned the RD colleges would just give away your spot to someone on the wait list, so what's the harm). Also, some one who would have been accepted had you withdrawn your app. might have foregone the waitlist and settled for a less favored college. Withdrw your apps. It's the right thing to do.

wow, sometimes i need to be told the obvious. i'll choose email as my contact if i get accepted ED. wish me luck, and thank you all for your help. this forum rocks.

Good luck, nycstudent!

It's good that you're worried about this. Most people would just shout for joy and forget about all other apps. They wouldn't take the trouble to do a nice deed for someone else. Good for you!

ok, i don't understand.. i got accepted to two RD schools before my ED school. how do i withdraw those two schools? do i just not enroll?

I think you should inform them right away that you have accepted your ED school. That way they know they can offer the spots to someone now and not in May. Two kids will thank you for it.
