This may sound like a weird question, but I'm just wondering if I get accepted to the school I applied ED to, should I email the person I did an alumni interview with and just send them a thank you email for any input they gave to the university about me?

I think it’s an excellent idea.

Interviewers typically don’t learn until the spring which of their interviewees were accepted (at least, they don’t in my region for my college), and I know I’d like to know sooner. I would very much appreciate an email from my interviewees, not even so much to thank me as just to share their good news. So yes, write to your interviewer, they will appreciate it.

Yes, excellent idea.

I think it is a nice idea! I am able to log on and see the decision a day after the student finds out.

My college interviews are different than Requins. All interviewers who get someone admitted are definitely informed. We are then enlisted to congratulate the student and help persuade them into actually accepting the offer.

Regardless, your interviewer would love to hear from you if admitted.

Right, sorry if I was not clear. We do get informed, and there is a party for admitted students and we’re asked to congratulate the student and persuade them to accept, but that doesn’t happen until after RD decisions are out at the end of March. The OP here was asking about ED where the decisions come out 3 months or so earlier.

I had my Duke interview not too long ago and the alumni told me that if I were to be accepted, he would be notified at the same time I would be. He told me to expect a call from him saying congratulations (if I get accepted ha) so I would assume that the alum would already know

You should have already sent a Thank You email soon after your interview. If you had a positive experience with your interviewer a follow up after acceptance with an additional thanks seems nice.

@turtletime yes I did send an email thanking my interviewer just for taking the time and doing the interview. I was talking about 2 months later (Thursday at 5 actually :OOO) to email this person informing them that i was accepted and thanking them for any additional info that they may have given to Columbia (oh shoot, gave it away ;)) that may have influenced the decision.
