Yeah I believe the applicants have gone from like 20,000 to 50,000 over the course of 5 years, which is rather scary. But i'm sure its the same for all schools, only I think an increase of 30,000 is quite alot more than most schools.

fingers crossed!!!

This year, about 7,600 freshmen and transfers were accepted out of over 48,000. At least that's what the acceptance letter says (I was accepted). Just letting you guys know the numbers. However, I unfortunately do not intend to enroll there. Good luck as you get your responses!

I GOT IN TOO!!!! =) YES!

it's fourth on my list of 9 schools that i've applied to...but who knows, now i want to visit it. We'll see what happens.

Congrats, you guys.

Saved, I have a question. If I am admitted to UCSD, I want to enroll in AFROTC. Then I'll be a crosstown cadet to SDSU. How many miles is it from UCSD to SDSU, and how long does it take to drive?

Not sure, the mileage, but in order to get to La Jolla, assuming there is minimal traffic, i'd say about 25-30 minutes.

wow @ 48,000 applicants...the UC system as a whole only had 100,000 according to an article in the SF Chronicle recently.

My admission status still hasn't changed. I wonder if it's because I'm so far away from SD. They favor local applicants, right?

They inform they more qualified applicants earlier. Everyone else finds out in either november or october, i forget which month.

They do favor, students south of san diego, in the mainly spanish speaking areas.

I'm going to visit it next month!!!

how hard is it to graduate in 4 years?

Does anyone know how good the nursing program at SDSU is?

Taffy - my son is a freshman at SDSU and since I'm paying the bills, your question is very important to me! The number of 4 year graduates at SDSU has been rising steadily over the years, to 12.5 % in 2003 (I haven't seen any figures for last year.) From what I've seen this year the school has a good program designed to assist students in graduating on time, and it is very possible to finish in 4 years if that is your goal (and you don't change your major in the middle.)

SDSU was my first choice because of the reputation it had in business. I got accepted, just found out about 1-2 weeks ago. I don't think I can go because of the cost of living down there plus I live in Santa Rosa (northern california, 1 hr. north of SF) which is quite a drive. I was delighted to be accepted as I know how hard it was to get in as a transfer student. My girlfriend was accepted as well. I REALLY WANT TO GO!!! It's just the cost of living is sooo high.

If you can take out student loans, i'd recommend it, because quite frankly you will enjoy SDSU, as well as get a good degree in business, that i believe will pay off in the future.

Hi Saved,

How are the dorms down there? How would you rank them in order? Is University Towers and Chulili any good? Also, are there major recuriters down there for the business and international business?? or is it really competitive? reply back soon thanks!!

yeah im going to sdsu too, i applied for cuic as my first choice and then chap...what would u recommend?

The international business program is amazing at State. With that degree it's almost impossible not to get a job (and a high paying one at that).

Dorms -

Cuic. They're the newest and nicest of the dorms. However, they tend to lack socially relative to Zura and Tenochca.

Zura. It's literally a Zoo (i lived there :)). It's the biggest dorm at SDSU I believe. It's kinda old and run down, but nothing IKEA can't do to make your room nice. It was definitely very social and made lots of friends there.

Tenochca - similiar to Zura, only smaller and a bit nicer.

University Towers - I wouldn't recommend UT, they have weird meal plans and it's really rundown.

Chappy - it's on the other side of campus from most the freshmen, but it's nice and new.

Be sure to mail in your dorm selection ASAP, they give you a certain dorm via how quickly you send it in, hopefully i'm not too late with that advice.

Hey! How bad is University Towers? Also how is the registration process for adding classes? Do they have certain priorities for seniors and juniors? For instance, if someone was a freshmen they may have the worst priority compared to juniors and seniors. Also, which recruiters recruit at SDSU in the business aspect? (e.g the big 4 accounting firms) How are the club organzations? Does SDSU have a sense of community? Thanks for taking the time to read my questions!

I've felt the registration process has been easy. They cut enrollment a great deal, and it seems (as a product of the enrollment cuts) most people don't have any trouble getting classes they need.

I'm only a freshmen (now a sophomore i suppose) so i'm not exactly sure which big 4 firms recruit or if any do, plus i'm going into finance and not accounting. I know two guys who just graduated w/ finance degrees that are making 100k salaries in commercial real estate.

The business clubs are key for networking. If you join the finance and investment society, all the big name execs in the San Diego area typically come speak to the FIS. Plus after they're done speaking you have an oppertunity to chat with them.

Hopefully that was somewhat helpful.
