Will as many test scores/information given to the university help my chances of admission?
I’m trying to decide whether or not to take the May 7th SAT2 (another date for my schedule will not work - this is my only chance to take the subject tests), but I also have a state band competition that day that I really want to go to.
If a university’s website does not have any information regarding the SAT2 is it safe to say that they don’t need it?
Yes. Relatively few colleges require/request SAT Subject Tests. If they want them, they’ll let you know.
No. In fact it might have the opposite response; they may view you as a test taking drone who has nothing better to do on a Saturday.
Go to the state band competition unless the admissions page of your college choices specifically mention SAT 2 requirements. Be careful to read the fine print as some departments (i.e. Engineering) may require them. A very small percentage of colleges overall require SAT 2 tests. Georgetown requires 3…and for that reason, my kids will not be applying to Georgetown.
Be sure to check the requirements of every school you are considering applying to. If none of them require/recommend the SAT II then go and enjoy the band competition. My kids did not take any SAT II exams and were fine for the schools they applied to.
