DO i need to take these exams? Do i take these classes again in college such as Rutgers or something? Or is it pointless because you don't take these classes as a CS major?...

Also just wondering, what are the classes taken as a freshman in Rutgers or anything for a CS major?...

The only AP classes my computer science engineering major son took in high school were AP Calc and AP Comp Sci. That said, he retook calc in college even though he got a 5 on the exam to make sure he had the proper foundation for moving on. He met his physics requirement by taking it over the summer between freshman and sophomore year of college at a local university to free up space in his schedule for sophomore year.

No advice/experience w/ Rutgers.

Good luck

You generally do not need any AP tests for any college.

Of course, depending on the college and major, specific AP tests with high enough scores may fulfill some requirements or let you start in more advanced courses, effectively making space for additional free electives. But you need to check each college and major individually.

If your college lets you skip a course with an AP score, it would be a good idea to review the college’s old final exams for that course to see if you know everything that the college expects students who have completed the course to know. (Old final exams are often found on the college’s own web site.)

You can use the college’s web site to look up course requirements for your major at that college.

Here is Rutgers School of Arts and Sciences AP credit information:

The CS major at Rutgers is described here:

College will teach you all the basics. The AP stuff is just to impress admissions.
