does applying early action or early decision increase my chances in getting into the college of my choice. essentially, is it easier to get in if you apply early?!?

You haven't already read the other threads on this subject?

Here's a book you can read during your free time this summer:

Short answer: you should apply nonrestrictive early action to all the colleges you like that offer an early action program, if you don't have a clear favorite college. If you have a clear favorite college, and it offers early action, apply early action THERE. If you have a clear favorite college, and you are sure you can afford it no matter how little financial aid it offers, and it has an early decision program, apply early decision there.

The only reason people vary in whether or not they apply early is

a) interactions among the different college rules about whether you can apply early at more than one college,

b) differences among students in their preferences,

and

c) sheer ignorance on the part of many students about the advantages of applying early. In general, it is at worst neutral and often VERY advantageous to apply early.

It depends. Sometimes the numbers may fool you, mostly because those who apply EA (etc.) get in because of their awareness of how well-suited they are for that particular school.
