If I could change one thing....

This was tough. There is so much I would love to change thought- raise my SAT a bit higher, do some more/better ECs, and biggest for me write better essays.

I’d have stayed in cross country and Track, starting cross country as a freshman rather than a sophomore.

I’d have tried out for the math and science academic teams freshman year (I didn’t know about them until sophomore year)

I’d have started a club or two

I’d have taken ap physics sophomore year and then AP chemistry junior year rather than chem honors sophomore year + the ap test and ap physics junior year.

I’d have started volunteering earlier and possibly a research program as a freshman.

Re/Doing these things would’ve strengthened my application by at least tenfold.

^■■■■■!!!

Would not change thing !

Look at my Chance threads before you go out and claim heresy.

Does that mean you’re the ■■■■■ because everything I said was true?

By the way, if anybody thinks this is an attack to Kingsize, look at what I said and look at what he said. If anything, he should be the one getting punished for attacking another person, for I find “■■■■■” highly offensive because everything I’ve said was in fact true.

MY GPA!!! I hardly do my Homework! Probabaly would be a Val, Oh Well

I tried my hardest to take as many APs as I could but I realized that I could have taken some college courses over the summer that would have allowed me to take more.

In other words, I took 5 APs from 9-11th when I could have (would have been hard though) taken 9 APs from 9-11th and received the National AP scholar award.

Also, I regret not involving myself in more as a young kid.

So, most of my regrets stem from elementary/middle school rather than highschool itself.

i’d change my rank

@Jlee: I couldn’t agree with you more. Doing more at an earlier stage would have been so beneficial. Trying to cram everything into the last few years of highschool is just hell.

Extracurriculars! I just felt it was so hard to participate in much considering the amount of school work that I had. If i spent more time with extracurriculars, my grades would be worse, unless I didn’t want to have some time to relax.

For me, I would definitely do more ECs to demonstrate my leadership abilities. I pretty much set as far as grades and standardized testing goes. However, the top schools are looking for well-rounded individuals who have shown an incredible dedication to their communities. As far as it goes, the college would probably look at me as a test score and no more.

could have had a 4.0 UC GPA but got a freaking 89.0% in chemistry >:(
also I wish I took more APs

Sports. I wish I had started early on a sport so I could do one high school. they’re a biggie i didn’t realize it though

Ugh thats what I did too. Took more Ap classes than anybody else in the school and ended up with a 3.4. And then the kids with 1 ap class got to run around bragging they have a 3.9 or whatever. I should have done what they did… :/

For votes, I put down GPA. But thinking about it now, I wouldn’t want to change a thing.

Doing bad in classes, as well as realizing my skills, possibilities, and limits in some subjects has change me to a better person overall. Sure, I want the damn 4.0, but I don’t think I would be same if I had the high GPA.

Just extracurriculars. The clubs at my school are, for the most part, scoff-worthy and full of leaders who care more about their own college apps than the cause, but I turned down opportunities for some promising activities (Academic Decathlon because they studied for 2 hours every week, or taking over and saving the dying literary magazine instead of jumping ship), and then went ahead and gave up drama on my schedule for P.E. instead of joining Cross Country afterschool (double mistake).
The thing is, having more ECs isn’t just something I’d change for my applications. It’s something I would’ve wanted to make my high school experience–and myself–that much better/more interesting, and I think not continuing drama was one of the biggest mistakes in my life. Hopefully, wherever I go, I’ll find a way to find it again.

I’m happy with my accomplishment. I wont change a thing either!

please have a look at this http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1057817-chance-potentate.html#post1066135834

SAT scores. happy with my ECs and content with my GPA (except for my average in a few math courses).

SAT scores by far…but I’m still happy to where ive been accepted.
