Definitely my gpa. Totally slacked freshman year and regretted ever since

my grades for sure!

but also others like test scores etc.

It’s not on the list, but I soooo wish I could change the classes I took sophomore and junior year. I would have added some AP classes. Gah.

Remove standardized testing (sat act cst …) from the field of education >:{~

ECs…my ECs are so bad :(

My extra-curriculars. My grades/scores are pretty good, but even perfect scores aren’t enough for some schools. If I hadn’t studied so hard, I would have had the time and energy to finish writing my novel–which garnered interest from multiple literary agents, and one in particular who was one step short of offering me representation. But I didn’t have the book finished because I spent all my time studying, and the agents can’t wait forever.

I would have had the “hook” that top schools want to see, and my scores probably wouldn’t have been horrible anyway. Plus, I might have made money or gained an early edge in a tough industry. And it’s really impressive to do something like that at 16. It was a childhood dream of mine, but I gave it up to study harder (and not even in subjects I like–90% math, which i abhor). I can still write and seek publication, but this is a major missed opportunity, and I’ll never have the chance to be a 16 y/o novelist again.

I feel like this is going to be one of my main regrets in life, not just when it comes to college apps. :(

What do you mean you’re accomplishments have paled compared to top applicants? What exactly have they accomplished? Do you mean like Olympic goal medals or started a business? I feel like there are few who have done amazing things by senior year. As long as you show that amazing potential you should be fine.

@Willywonka

If I could change one thing about my app it would have been my GPA. Mine isn’t bad by any means, but just thinking about how I could have raised my grade one or two points that would in turn raise my GPA by even a .1 makes me sick!!

My only extracurricular was volunteering with the youth at my church- I’ve being helping out for about 4 years now. I WISH I would’ve joined the swim team when I was attending normal school (I’m home schooled now) but I was really self conscious and shy -__-

I would definitely take more AP classes, taking 2 up to Junior year is unacceptable.

I would’ve pursued more activities. Freshman and sophomore year, I really slacked off and didn’t bother to get involved in some activities. Because of that, my application really won’t reflect my appreciation of community service and leadership.

I would have listened to myself more rather than my parents and guidance counselor when it came to essays. Other people tried to figure the admissions process out, while I tried to figure myself out.

I’m a baaaaaaaaad test-taker so ACT/SAT.

Definitely wish I could have won a national award!

I would’ve studied harder and stayed back for tutoring when I knew I needed it like my GPA is absolutely pathetic! A 3.5 weighted!!! I’m only in the top 20% of my class! Most of the other IB kids in my grade are in the top 10% I think I’m the only one so far down in rank :/

I’m not out of high school yet, but there is one thing that I do regret. I would have actually tried on the PSAT, if I knew that it meant something.

Taking the test got me out of the first four class periods, one of which was gym. Basically, I took it to get out of gym. I didn’t think that it meant anything, so I stayed up really late the night before, and half-assed the test. I did horribly, and got a 190. I probably could have gotten National Merit, if I had tried, which I didn’t. I know it doesn’t mean much if anything for admissions, but I still regret not trying.

What schools can I get into with a 3.37 weighted and 28 ACT?

i think the sat/act is total nonsense!
