If I could change one thing....

My GPA, it’s terrifying.

Honestly, nothing! I did the best that I could do, and even though I’m not perfect, I’m pretty satisfied with myself…

gpa… :))

GPA, I have a 3.24 weighted and that’s including the massive leap in GPA I had my senior year which doesn’t raise the GPA they look at. Honestly I would go to the public school in my area instead, one of my friends goes there has a 3.8 UW and in subjects where he has higher grades he asks me for help. :(

Extracurricular activities. :(

Ethnicity.

Extracurriculars and took the ACT instead of the SAT.

For engineering programs, wish I had known that when looking at a university…the stats for that school were NEVER the stats for the engineering program within the school. Stats for all the engineering majors my son applied to were much higher than the average for the school. Safety schools turned into matches and matches turned into reaches depending on the program within the school.

My GPA and SAT scores because it could have expanded my choices. I regret slacking!

Joined more clubs and more community service.

I would have applied to my grandfather’s alma mater. UCLA! He looked so sad when I listed off all the ones I applied to. :frowning:

I’d change my essay for University of Washington. I’m having severe second thoughts about it… I wrote it all in second person. (Was all done on purpose, no random ‘you’ thrown in with the rest being in first or third person)

I don’t know if I got accepted there or not… I was trying to be unique and stand out I guess? I don’t think it was the right choice though :/

My SAT and ACT scores :(

I think i will change my GPA. I want to make it 3.75 if it possible. I think most of the students will want to change their GPA.

Same. GPA isn’t horrendous, but it could have been better.

Study a little bit more on the schools’ financial aid history, we may skip two schools on the list and save some money.

my ECs. I attend a very small private school in suburban Oklahoma with literally no ECs. I just wish I knew where to look for them for the past 4 years and actually participated in them.

My SAT score. I should have studied more SAT vocabulary words. I only got halfway through the Direct Hits Core Vocabulary book. Perhaps I could have raised my SAT score from a 2300 to a 2400 if I had gotten through that book.

I am doing a story for public radio about the college application process. I want to talk with some students who applied to ten or more colleges. I am also interested in students who are on wait lists. If you are interested in sharing your story, you can reach me at samharnett [at] gmail . com

I would have spent more time focusing on my personal statement, and applied to more safety and reach schools instead of reach schools (that I knew I did not have much of a chance getting into). I also wish I would have done better on my SAT’s. But overall, I am a firm believer of the saying “Everything happens for a reason”. I did not do all of these things, which allowed me to learn from them, which in turn made me into a better college student.
