If I could change one thing....

My essay. You need an essay you are proud of and have no doubts about.

my major

I wish I would’ve:

 1. Not procrastinated on a few supplements.
 2. Considered the strength of individual programs rather than just the overall rankings.
 3. Not applied to the UC’s as an engineering major. I discovered later that I didn’t wanna be one after all + matches turned into reaches.
 4. Applied to less reaches & more matches.
 5. Looked for fit, fit, fit rather than prestige.

These steps would’ve spared me a ton stress, but I have no regrets over the outcome. Loving the school I’ll be attending. :)

I wish I would have tried harder my freshman and sophomore year and not procrastinated therefore leading to only B’s in Algebra and Geometry. Which definitely could have been A’s!! I am not bad at math at all, I just need some effort to make them A’s. Effort by studying and doing my homework. And also comparing myself to other students on here, I feel I lack so much that I feel discouraged colleges won’t accept me  I only have a 91 gpa. I am going to take 4 college classes next yr for my senior yr of hs and am in a few clubs like Honor Society, Spanish club, Interact club(Community service). I was in French Club for my sophomore year. I also applied for a leadership program called RYLA. I was a finalist but i didn’t get accepted.

Outside of school I work everyday for a couple hours at my parent’s restaurant. I take people’s orders by phone or in person, I clean tables, I am learning to package the food and I am a cashier.

Critical reading score on sat!

My race and gender

My major. You can change majors once you get in, but trying to get into certain schools where they weigh in what major you apply for made things difficult. Some engineering majors are just ridiculously competitive. picking a major that attracts people of lesser academic standing and then changing majors would have suited me much better in terms of admissions.

My test scores were the damage…everything else in my application were great!
Thank God for test optional programs within some awesome colleges! ^_^

DONT SLACK OFF SOPHOMORE YEAR…I got 4 As and 3B+s when I couldve gotten 6As and only 1 B with more effort.

DONT SLACK OFF SOPHOMORE YEAR…I got 4 As and 3B+s when I couldve gotten 6As and only 1 B with more effort.

Not take ap language and composition.

GPA/SAT scores even though I’m taking them again…

Especially ACT scores like whaaa

Definitely thought about college and school before Junior year. I hung out with a lot of people who really didn’t care about school at all and it really affected me. I still got As but I could’ve done SO much more. I had no idea I could take AP classes and excel at tests until I tried. Now I’m at senior year and have no community service, only a few minor clubs, and pretty much all of my academic weight on one and a half years. Really regret it.

I wouldn’t have applied to schools like MIT, Caltech, and UChicago. I knew these were schools I wouldn’t be happy at, but applied to nonetheless.

Not limited myself to schools I thought my parents would let me go to.

ME: Hey mom, you know that girl I met at [blahblah] University? The one whose family had a llama farm in Kentucky and stuff?
MOM: Yeah.
ME: Well she’s going to St. Andrews! How awesome is that! I wish I could go to Scotland…
MOM: Well why didn’t you apply?
ME: … Are you saying – you would have let me go – if I got in?
MOM: Yeah of course! I only care about your safety. St. Andrews is safer than many places in this country.
ME: [blank stare]

If you’re like me and finances are not an issue for whatever reason, go crazy a little with your dreams, because this is one of the only times you have the opportunity to entertain them.

Freshman Year: Take a 0 period and get the AP Human I actually was supposed to get. Not a lot honestly, Freshman year was awesome and phenomenal for me.
Sophomore Year: A lot of stuff…probably will be my worst year of HS. Most notably actually choosing my classes and doing research and dropping AP World and Chem Hon.

Can anyone chance me please  Thank you!!!

Oh yeah, it would be nice if I could change my race for my senior year only.

Maybe some super smart CC’er here could develop a skin color-changer 3000 or something

One thing I would change are my EC’s…even though I’m only a sophomore, I see people on here who are curing pancreatic cancer and doing brain cancer research and I feel sucky in comparison…

@SciolyGuy metaphorically speaking, the guys who are “curing cancer” have been practicing their craft for several years, if not their entire lives.

Obviously theres going to be an occasional exception where a genius pops up with a great project out of the blue.

Winning the google science fair or getting a prestigious internship is almost always based on years and years of work building up to that specific event.
