Title says it

As a Junior I got a 145.5 out 150 on the AMC 12 B and a projected 150/150 on the AIME II.
Will these scores help me get into college considering the fact that I don't have a great GPA nor good test scores?

What colleges will look at my results and want to admit me?
And are any schools going to offer me anything based on the scores alone by this year?

Thanks

I got into most of the top colleges I applied to most likely due to USAMO qualification. My GPA was slightly below average for Ivies, but not far off. My tests scores were also on target. I don’t know how privy colleges are to the indexing system. My AMO index was 260 (14/15 + 120) last year. To be quite honest, I find it hard to believe that someone who missed a perfect index by 4.5 points would not have a perfect GPA and/or SAT. Heck, almost all of the people who qualify for USAMO are near the top of their classes. I’m not accusing you of cheating, or anything, but any college that looks closely at how successful you were at AMC will probably have similar suspicions. However with such a high index, I have no doubt that you’ll kill the USAMO and make MOP no problem. Historically, MOPpers have a nearly 90% acceptance rate to Harvard and MIT, but like I said, most MOPpers are at the top of their classes.

If your bad grades were due to non-math subjects and you have an 800 in SAT math (I and II), you might be able to scrape together a savant-like application. If you’ve gotten bad grades in math, then most people (including myself) would doubt your success in AMC. Long story short, stats come before accomplishments.

As the above poster said, It’s definitely a plus at MIT and Harvard and such, but the rest of your application, besides tests/GPA, needs to be compelling too. So if that’s the case, you’re USAMO score can make up for some other deficiencies

Thank you! Well just a background on my other stats so you can gauge me: 3.7 UW GPA (4.5 Weighted). I was the only sophomore in my school to take AP Calc BC as Sophomore. I currently have a 2020 on SAT and a 30 on ACT, both having high scores in math. Haven’t taken Math II subject test yet. Other things I’m involved in academic related include being Science Bowl captain, Ocean Science Bowl captain, and Science Olympiad Captain, in addition to doing research for the Southern California Junior Academy of Sciences, as well as doing ARML. I have other stuff going on like community service and varsity tennis but those are the main academic stuff going.

Ah, ok. Well a 3.7 UW is not bad; it’s lower for Ivies and most top colleges, but it won’t hurt too much. Your test scores need some improvement. ACT is probably better if you’re aiming for math and science. Push up the ACT to at least 33 or 34. As for SAT II, Math II should be an easy 800 combined with chemistry, math, or physics, which should also be a fairly simply 800. Take those this June or in the Fall. Like I said, your index and accomplishments are very, very impressive. As a near-perfect AIME scorer and USAMOer, I know how much work is required for success in olympiad math. USAMO is probably in less than a few weeks, so good luck and try your best to make MOP this year. If you can pull off MOP, then your chances at “tech” schools like MIT, Caltech, CMU, and Harvey Mudd look very good. Your GPA will get in the way of most Ivies and non-tech top colleges, pushing most of them into the reach category.

Ok thank you for your input? Does anybody else have any response to my question?

That was meant to be a period after input. My bad

has a perfect AIME

“will i get into college”

haha sorry to sound like that. i was just wondering if that alone can get me into college
